Paragoomba Mario Cosplay hat

Yay! It's a Paragoomba! I designed the pattern myself, had my boyfriend, Matt, model it (that's him) . The body and black details are made out of anti-pill fleece, the white band is made out of Soo soft fleece. The wings and eyeballs are made out of white felt (yuck!) only because the fabric store was out of anti-pill white fleece and the soo soft fleece was fraying like crazy trying to do those tiny details. As such he's not entirely washable, well, if you do it on a gentle cycle or wash it by hand he'll be alright... damn store runs out of white fleece right when I need it!

The band is hemmed up about half an inch or so, just so it doesn't cover your eyes and looks nicer. I stopped the fraying by using a buttonhole stitch while connecting the cap and band together, the bottom band fraying was stopped by a zig-zag stitch which will also made it easier to hem it up. The wings are not stuffed, but they maybe one day, depending on how well they stick out when going through normal wear. It is hand sewn for the most part, except for the bottom of the band. All the pieces for the face are appliqued onto the barn red fleece.

I maybe be selling this one at a later time (maybe Otakon), or trading it for some exclusive action figures or something else I might see that I want at Otakon in a couple weeks. Matt suggested another hat I could make, but the pattern needs to be worked out first, it's going to be unlike anything I've done before.

The Paragoomba in the Mario games is the one that flies around and tries to swoop down and hit Mario or Luigi, and sometimes they drop the Microgoombas which if they hit your character, they will slow you down. Just in case you've never played a Mario game... which most people have.
